These doors were created as a collaborative piece with my husband John Kapel, who did the woodwork in walnut. My part of it is the steel and bronze insert into the front of the doors. The right side is the burning bush, representing the visionary metaphysical insight that fuels the basic concepts of Judaism, and the left side is the tree of life that represents the continuity of the people who hold the humanitarian values and spiritual awareness inherent in the Jewish tradition.

The inscriptions translate as follows: Right panel:We honor the insight given to us from God.

Left panel: The people of Israel live in the joy of the Torah.
